Having a productive day starts at night, but really happens first thing when you wake up. In order to feel motivated to get everything done throughout the day you need to wake up with the mindset that you will have a great day and be able to get everything done. These are all tips I do at night and in the morning when I know I need to be productive and power through my day!
The Night Before:
Try to get as much as you can done at night so that the morning will run smoother and you will be less stressed and rushed.
Plan out your day and write a to do list
It is so helpful if you wake up knowing exactly how your day will pan out and what you need to get done. I like to sit in bed before I start reading my book and take a look at my planner to see what is going on the next day and then I write my to do list. I carry this list with me all day as well as take a picture of it so whenever I have downtime I can look at my list and see what I could be doing to be productive.
Pick up your room
Having a clean and organized room when you wake up will make it much easier for you to wake up feeling ready to take on the day and it will make it easier for you to get ready since everything is in its place. If you pick it up at night it will also help you sleep better like how I mentioned in my How To Fall Asleep And Stay Asleep post.
Plan your outfit
I don’t know about you, but for me, choosing an outfit in the morning is sometimes the most stressful part about getting out of the house in the morning and can take up the most time if I can’t find anything to wear. An easy fix to this is to check the weather for the next morning and pick out your outfit that night. That way when you wake up in the morning at least one thing is already done for you!
Plan breakfast and make your lunch
This is an important step because it takes one more thing off your list of things you have to do in the morning. If you can make your lunch at night then definitely do it, but I know this isn’t always realistic when you have a busy schedule. So, I usually like write on my to do list what I want for breakfast and what I want to make for lunch to take to work. This way even if I still have to prepare all the food in the morning at least I don’t have to figure out what I want since it’s already been planned out.
When You Wake Up:
I think the key to having a productive morning is waking up with a positive mindset and going into your day with a smile. When you feel happy you will be more likely to get more done throughout your day than if you feel tired or unmotivated.
Open your blinds first thing
This is one of the most important things to do first thing in the morning because letting the sunlight in will help wake you up naturally. It will be hard to wake up in the morning if you are getting ready in a dark room. I love doing this especially in the summer because it’s so pretty out that it makes me excited to get my day started and get out of my house.
*TIP: Open up your windows to air out your room and give you some fresh air to help wake up.
Turn on music
I love turning up my country music in the morning to wake me up and put me in a better mood so I can get my day started on a positive note.
Make your bed
Making your bed in the morning helps you have a productive day for many reasons. For one, it is one of the first tasks of the day that gets completed, so it sets you up to want to continue completing tasks. Second, making your bed will keep you from getting back into bed. When I see my cozy bed and I’m sleepy I get so tempted to crawl back in and fall asleep for a few more minutes. When it’s made I don’t want to get back in and mess it up! And lastly, it makes your room look cleaner and more put together so when you come home for the night you can walk into a relaxing room. It’s amazing how much a made bed can change the feel of your room.
*TIP: Write ‘make bed’ on your to do list so first thing in the morning you already have something you can check off your list!
Start your day taking care of you so you can be your best self
The start of your day should be as stress free and happy as possible because if you start out your day in a negative or stressed mindset then the negativity and stress will follow you throughout your day. Whatever makes you happy in the morning you should always make time to do it because when you start your day happy you can be your best and most productive self.
All these tips help me get in a more productive mindset in the morning so that I can get more things done! I hope these tips can help you as much as they have helped me.
